HOUSTON, April 20, 2005 - Norse Pipeline LLC, a natural gas pipeline system serving Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania, has implemented the new release of PGAS® (Release 6.1), the widely accepted standard in natural gas measurement systems. PGAS® is owned and marketed by EMS Pipeline Services, a business unit of Energy Maintenance Services Group I, LLC (EMS Group).
EMS worked with Norse Pipeline to migrate their gas measurement operations and data to PGAS® 6.1. Featuring an open and flexible architecture on the Microsoft.Net platform, PGAS® 6.1 enables Norse Pipeline to control how natural gas measurement data is gathered, reported and disseminated. PGAS® 6.1 also includes special audit and control features for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
"Norse Pipeline is proud of the investment it has made in the PGAS software," said Norse Pipeline President Oivind Risberg. "It is our goal to implement the latest technology to provide our customers with detailed, timely and accurate gas measurement information. We are currently completing the conversion of all the measurement equipment on the Norse system to electronic flow meters. The analytical and reporting systems of PGAS will enable us to manage this near real-time gas flow data to identify and mitigate potential problems along the pipeline, as well as pinpoint the source of lost and unaccounted for gas."
"I like the user-friendly TechTools® application of PGAS®," said Larry Swanson, Norse Pipeline's Manage of Operations. "My field technicians can perform various calculations, meter tests and equipment checks while on location. It is proving to be a real time-saver."
Originally introduced in 1994, PGAS has become the gas measurement system of choice for industry leaders. PGAS has established market leadership by enabling users to efficiently manage millions of records related to production volume, gas quality and delivery transactions. The PGAS® suite of applications includes TechTools®, a laptop-based toolkit that incorporates all the tools used in the field for gas measurement into a single, powerful application.
"We are proud to be helping Norse Pipeline realize efficiencies and cost savings through the use of PGAS® 6.1," said Art Robbins, chief strategy and information officer for EMS Pipeline Services. "It has become an essential solution for gas production, transmission and distribution companies committed to the highest standards of corporate accountability and measurement accuracy."
